JPMorgan JPM Coin Pilot Expands Into Argentine Banking Sector
Argentine banks are now testing JPMorgan's blockchain-based settlement solution, JPM Coin, in a limited pilot focused on backend efficiency. The trial involves local lenders exploring deposit token infrastructure for institutional workflows, aiming to accelerate settlements and reduce interbank friction.
Banco CMF, participating through corporate entity QORP, is among the first adopters. The pilot tracks transaction reconciliation without actual fund transfers, using blockchain purely as a record-keeping layer under Argentina's restrictive crypto regulations.
JPM Coin's expansion reflects growing institutional interest in blockchain settlement rails, though traditional financial systems remain the transactional backbone. The initiative aligns with BCRA guidelines permitting controlled experimentation with distributed ledger technology.
